With the help of online translators, it is possible to keep up with the local and national news. The first thing you need to do is add the google translate tool to your browser’s toolbar. Drag your native language (in my case, English) to your toolbar, and whenever you are on a Norwegian webpage, click on that button. Voila! The entire page is in your native language!
The translation is not perfect, but for a quick overview of the top news, this is nothing short of a godsend!
Depending on your interests and needs, knowing the print schedule of your local paper can help you find what (job, cleaner, apartment) you are looking for. If you are house hunting it is useful to know that each Friday the Stavanger Aftenbladet’s real estate (House and Home) supplement is published.
Employment/Job ads are published in the local papers daily, and there are special circulars printed once a week (I think this is Tuesdays for the Stavanger Aftenbladet) to watch out for. From my understanding, almost all major advertised jobs are posted on finn.no as well.
